1994年9月14日生まれ埼玉県秩父市出身。東京都江東区立深川第四中学校卒業。埼玉県立浦和東高等学校卒業。在学中はサッカー部に所属。国際武道大学への入学を機にライフセーバー競技に出会い、日本ライフセービング界のパイオニアである山本利春教授に師事、ライフセービング競技に目覚める。毎日ひたむきに練習し、白い砂浜が黒くえぐれて”堀江道”と周辺住民に呼ばれるほどの猛特訓を重ね、翌年からはビーチ・フラッグスのインターカレッジで卒業まで3連覇を重ねる。日本代表入りしてからも、国際大会でメキメキと頭角を現し、2024年4月ライフセービングの花形競技ビーチ・フラッグスで、日本人男子史上初の全豪選手権優勝を23年ぶりに成し遂げ、現世界ランキング1位を獲得。

Shogo Horie was born in Chichibu, Saitama on September 14, 1994. He graduated from Fukagawa Fourth Junior High School in Koto, Tokyo and graduated from Urawa Higashi High School in Saitama Prefecture. Horie was a member of the soccer club while in school, but upon entering International Budo University, Horie was introduced to lifesaving competitions and studied under Professor Toshiharu Yamamoto, a pioneer in the Japanese lifesaving world, where he was awakened to the sport of lifesaving. He trained earnestly every day, with such intensity that the white sandy beach blackened and was dubbed “Horie Road” by locals. Starting the following year, he won three consecutive beach flags intercollegiate championships until graduation. Since joining the Japan National Team, Horie has continued to make a name for himself at international competitions. On April 2024, Horie became the first Japanese male in 23 years to win the beach flags event in the Australian Championships, the most prestigious lifesaving event in the world, and is currently ranked No. 1 in the world.
