Born in Takadanobaba and raised in Takanawa, Tokyo, Matsuda
began her career in editing while still at university, working
for Fine magazine and covering music, street culture, and
other topics. During the same period, she was also involved in
the management of Japanese hip-hop group King Ghidorah. In the
late 1990s, she moved to New York, where she lived for about
five years, working as a music writer and production
coordinator and interviewing numerous hip-hop and R&B artists.
After returning to Japan, she worked as a writer, editor, and
translator before moving into PR and event planning, primarily
in the fields of music, fashion, art, and culture. She joined
TANK in 2015.
Matsuda began studying mindfulness in 2014 and has since
completed mindfulness and Mindful Self-Compassion (MSC)
programs in the U.S. and Canada. She currently leads
mindfulness classes and workshops at Zen temples and other
venues, while also developing and producing wellness-related
